I'm taught at Treeview Elementary in the Hayward Unified School District. This school has a diverse student population of 460 students, primarily Hispanic. I was assigned to a 3rd + 4th grade combo classroom.

I developed a collaborative activity using Google Jamboard. When students first open the assignment, they're greeted with explicit directions. In this way, my expectations are clear, and they can always return to this slide to review directions.

In the top left, I've assigned 2-3 students per group to work on a slide. They used my graphic organizer to develop their summary. Then, they used the textbox on the right to type their complete summary.

I created a Jamboard graphic organizer for constructing a complete sentence that incorporates a "when" or "where" phrase. After filling in the boxes with sticky notes, students can put each component together to type a complete "when" phrase sentence! When we're done, I go through the slide and annotate for the class.

After practicing with graphic organizers, I conducted a Jamboard activity where students don't have the help of the graphic organizer. As you can see, I try to use humorous, nonsensical anchor pictures that caters to their sense of humor. I always want to ensure that students have a good laugh.
